My name is mónica teresa ortiz & I am a poet born and raised in Texas. My work focuses on the architecture of place. This poem contends with thoughts about plastics, faith, & although technology isn't directly named, the impact of its influences. I aspires to engage the collision of present conditions to think about how place affects art & artists & how artists & art affect place. As artists, we are tied to place, & we must interrogate our relationships to these places where we create art & the containers that hold art, & the places we identify as home. Through intimate & personal experience in relation to place, in a pandemic state, I hope that through text, the reader considers expressions of landscape, exile, design & language as a response to the past, present, & future.
